Lakefield Chiefs Open Season with Win, Honor Former Coach

The Lakefield Graham Carpentry Jr. C Chiefs kicked off their regular season in the Todd Division of the PJHL on Tuesday, September 16, with a special tribute to former coach Colin Donaldson before puck drop.

The Chiefs delivered a strong performance in front of 225 fans at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre, defeating the Amherstview Jets 5–4.

The Chiefs goals and points on the night came from Jack Ryan, Matt D’Angelo and Alex Whitney each with a goal and an assist, Cormac Clowater had a goal along with Ashston Kirwin with a beautiful solo effort on a shorthanded goal. Assists came from Captain Will Corcoran with two and singles from Owen Hartwick and Brayden D’Innocenzo.

Ibrahim Tahir started the game, stopping 9 of 13 shots before leaving due to injury with 10 minutes remaining.

Sasha O’Brien came in as relief, making 6 saves to close out the game.

The Chiefs outshot the Jets 40–18 on the night.
